AFTER 21 YEARS, EGYPTAIR RESTORES DIRECT FLIGHTS TO BAGHDAD, ARBIL

Egypt's national carrier, Egyptair, resumed direct flights to Iraq after an interruption of 21 years. Service between the two countries was ceased by Egypt in 1990, following Baghdad's invasion of Kuwait.

COMMENT: The first Cairo-Baghdad flight left today with about 30 passengers on board. Henceforth, Egyptair will fly four times a week to Baghdad and three times to Arbil, capital of autonomous Iraqi Kurdistan.
