UPDATE: TRUCK-BOMBING AT UN HQ IN ABUJA CLAIMED 23 LIVES

As an update on my postings on the truck-bombing in Abuja, one Norwegian and 10 Nigerians were among the United Nations staffers killed last week. Nine people not connected to the UN and three identified bodies are also among those killed, bringing the total loss of life to 23.

COMMENT: The attack was claimed by a sect known locally as Boko Haram, whose name means "Western education is sacrilege" in the local Hausa language. The group is advocating for a strict adherence to Shariah law in Nigeria.
