An unnamed body-boarder in his early 20s, was tragically killed on Sunday (September 4) when a shark bit off both of his legs. The incident occurred at a place known as The Farm, off Bunker Bay near the western town of Dunsborough. The beach was closed after the attack.
COMMENT: Some thirty surfers, including several of the victim's friends, were in the water at the time of the attack. According to authorities, sharks were observed far out at sea several months ago, but they never came in closer. It was the first shark attack in the area in more than 20 years.
