US Adds Indian Mujahideen to Terror List

On Thursday (September 15) the US State Department added India's indigenous militant group, the Indian Mujahideen, to its list of terrorist organizations, with India's thankful endorsement. The Indian Mujahideen has claimed responsibility for numerous bomb attacks in Indian cities in recent years, and is one of the suspects in the investigation into a blast earlier this month outside the Delhi High Court that left 14 dead.

COMMENT: In adding the group to its terror list, the US State Department noted that the organization has close ties with Pakistan-based militant groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba, which was blamed for the 2008 terrorist attacks in Mumbai.
