Canadian Tourist, 51, Victim of Robbery in Bermuda

A Canadian tourist, 51, who had rented a bicycle so that she could tour Bermuda on Saturday (October 9) was forced by two men on a motorcycle to surrender her backpack containing a digital camera and other valuables while riding on South Road. The crime occurred at roughly 1800 in Southampton near the junction with Turtle Place. The victim was not injured.

COMMENT: Crime against tourists has generally risen throughout the Caribbean region and is also on the rise in Bermuda. Any foreign traveler who is victimized while in Bermuda should report the matter to their respective embassy and contact the Bermuda Police Service in an emergency on 911.
