Canadian Citizen Shot, Killed in Sinaloa

According to EFE, Salid Abdulacis Sabas, a Canadian citizen, age unknown, was reportedly shot and killed in a shopping district in the city of Culiacan, in Sinaloa [Mexico] northwest Mexico, under circumstances that are not entirely clear.

No motive or explanation for the shooting has been released, yet it appears that the victim was executed, as nine expended .45 cal. casings were found at the scene.

COMMENT: Sinaloa, the birthplace of the first generation of Mexican drug lords, is the bastion of the cartel led by the fugitive Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, whose name appears on Forbes Magazine's list of the world’s wealthiest people.

The state of Sinaloa is one that boasts one of the highest rates of violence in Mexico, amid a wave of drug-related violence in recent years.
