Frenchman Arrested, Charged with Murder in Australia

French national Thomas Camus, 22, has been charged with murder in connection with the physical attack on Australian Kristopher Dixon, 32, near a nightclub in the remote Western Australia town of Broome. The attack reportedly occurred on Christmas Day (December 25).

COMMENT: Camus has been remanded into custody. He has already been arraigned and charged with homicide, although the specific charge has not been made public. Police are still calling for witnesses to the incident to come forward. Three other suspects, ages 25, 29 and 32, have already been charged as playing a role in Dixon's death, although they are not charged with causing the Australian's death.

Sadly, excessive drinking played a role in the attack on Dixon, although intoxication is never an explanation for bad behavior resulting in someone's death. The defendants no doubt will be held accountable for their actions.

The details on this case will be updated as new information becomes available.
