Passenger Shoots Video of Bus Driver "Texting" While Driving in Sydney

For the benefit of our readers, please take a look at the video link below, which depicts a Sydney bus driver texting while driving. At one point he accelerates from a standing start without even lifting his eyes.

The footage, obtained by Sidney's Nine News, was taken by a passenger aboard the 610 service along the M2 between Sydney's CBD and the Hills District one week before Christmas. The video was shot because the passenger did not believe what was happening.

The driver also is depicted taking both hands off the wheel seven times during the clip's duration--scrolling, pressing buttons and flipping the phone on its side for a better view.

COMMENT: A spokeswoman for NSW Transport Minister Gladys Berejiklian told Nine News that the driver's commercial license has been suspended pending investigation.

The sad part of this story is that local governments worldwide face this continuing problem and should have written policies, they each employee signs, that indicates that "texting" while driving a commercial vehicle is the basis for immediate discharge and cancellation of their commercial license.
