Tour Bus Crashes in Dominican Republic Killing Driver, Injuring 10 Others

A tourist bus carrying some 50 passengers rolled over near the mountain town of Jarabacoa on Monday (January 30), killing the driver and injuring ten others, including seven US citizens. For reasons not yet explained, the bus driver went off the road.

COMMENT: Most of the injured were young adults and were not injured seriously. As I've mentioned in other postings, tour bus accidents are beginning to claim more victims than violent crime.

Although obviously all of the facts are not yet in, and unless the cause of the accident was mechanical, many such accidents occur largely because of poor driving skills or excessive speed.
