US Citizen Found Dead in His Costa Rica Home

US citizen Bruce Corbitt, 60, was found dead in his home on Monday morning (January 9) in the Guanacaste beach town of Sámara, according to the daily La Nacíon. Corbitt was reportedly found on the floor of his bungalow with a head wound; Judicial Investigation Police confirmed that they would release further details on cause of death earlier this week.

COMMENT: Corbitt apparently lived alone and was an artist and writer who moved to Sámara from California after retiring in 2007. Further details will be provided as soon as additional information is available.

US citizens and Canadians by far are the largest two expat groupings (50,000 and 15,000, respectively) living in Costa Rica, the entire expatriate community is at least double that.
