Police in the Cayman Islands have reported that a US tourist, 47, died while scuba off the popular North West Point in Grand Cayman on Friday (February 3). The woman reportedly lost consciousness while ascending following a dive at Little Tunnels reef. They said employees with the Red Sails Sports diving company attempted unsuccessfully to resuscitate her as they brought her to shore.
COMMENT: The woman was taken to Cayman Islands Hospital in George Town where she was pronounced dead. The name of the victim has been withheld pending notification of next-of-kin. This incident will be updated early next week as new information becomes available.
