Update: Wife of Assailant Who Murdered Canadian Tourist Arrested, Charged

As a follow-up to my February 11, 2012, posting entitled "Bizarre Shooting in Florida Claims Three Dead," the Broward County Sheriff's Department has reported that Deanna DeJesus, 38, the wife of a Florida man who authorities say stabbed his entire family (in the hope of killing them) in a Deerfield Beach RV park on February 2, and then killed himself, was arrested and charged on Friday (March 2) with aggravated manslaughter and child neglect.

COMMENT: In a strange sequence of events, Willam DeJesus, 41, drove his family from their home some hours away where DeJesus fatally shot Ovila Plante, 76, a Canadian pensioner, although his wife survived the unprovoked attack. In point of fact, DeJesus had never met the Plantes.

Barricading themselves in the Plantes' RV, Mrs. Plante was able to escape and notified police. DeJesus then stabbed his wife and two sons before taking his own life. Authorities say Deanna DeJesus knew one of her sons was still alive, but took no action to call attention to his condition, even though the RV was surrounded by police.
