Arizona: DHS Agents Seize 10,000 Rounds of Ammo Bound for México

Federal authorities of the US Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seized more than 10,000 rounds of ammunition (9mm, .38 cal. and .45 cal.) on Thursday night (March 29) in Nogales, AZ from a tractor-trailer driven by a Mexican national, 47, and destined for México. The shipment was seized and the suspect arrested and taken into custody.

COMMENT: Agents were suspicious of prohibited content when a detection dog trained to detect ammunition, communicated with his handler that such materials were in the tractor-trailer. Subsequently, the agents broke into the compartment and found not only the large quantity of ammo, but some 63 magazines for AK-47 assault rifles.
