Turkey: Tour Bus Carrying Swiss Tourists Crashes Kills One, Injures 21

One Swiss national was killed and 21 others injured, two seriously, in a single-vehicle bus accident that occurred on Tuesday (April 10) when a bus carrying a group of Swiss tourists suddenly turned over and slid some 150 feet while the Turkish resort of Antalya. The Anadolu Agency said the Turkish bus driver and tour guide were also hurt in the accident.

The bus was heading back to Antalya, on the Mediterranean coast, after a day trip to the Pamukkale hot springs, a popular tourist destination and UNESCO World Heritage site.

COMMENT: Unfortunately, tour bus accidents are a frequent occurrence in Turkey and countless other developing nations. I continue to urge tour operators to thoroughly screen and evaluate sub-contracting firms that support tour operations and have them sign contracts prepared by wrongful death and wrongful injury attorneys.
