UAE: Royal Navy, Dubai Police Continue to Search for Missing Sailor, 27, Who Disappeared on May 27

The British Royal Navy has confirmed that its divers have taken part in the search for British Navy seaman Timmy MacColl, 27, who has been missing since his shipmates paid a Dubai taxi in advance at 0200 hours on May 27, with instructions to take MacColl back to his ship, the HMS Westminster. Unfortunately, he never arrived at his ship.

Dubai police are leading the investigation for the missing sailor inasmuch as MacColl disappeared in Dubai. Yet, from all indications, there are virtually no leads what may have happened to the married sailor, whose wife, Rachel, is expecting their third child in October.

Navy divers have also extensively searched the waters surrounding Port Rashid, in addition to police canvassing the area outside the Rock Bottom Cafe, where MacColl's shipmates placed him into a taxi and directed the driver to take him back to the Westminster.

COMMENT: Even though I have found or recovered a number of missing persons around the world, this case is truly puzzling, unless authorities may have missed possible motives or leads that may have been overlooked.

It is unknown as to whether police in Dubai were able to locate the driver and taxi that reportedly took the young sailor to his ship.

It is also very strange that the disappearance of an active duty sailor, particularly in a foreign country, would not reveal some leads as to what circumstances lead to his becoming a missing person for such a lengthy period of time. Surely his closest shipmates have been thoroughly interviewed.

Presumably, Rachel, who has also visited Dubai to help in the investigation, has also been interviewed extensively in search of a possible motive for her husband's disappearance.

Our compassion, concern and prayers go out to the MacColl Family in the hope that they will soon know what may have happened to Timmy, understanding fully the grief and torment they must be experiencing.
