China: Five German Tourists, Chinese Driver Killed, 16 Injured When Tour Bus Crashes into Truck

Six people, including five German nationals and a Chinese driver, died and 14 others were injured after a tour bus rear-ended a container truck and caught fire earlier today (October 1) near Beijing.
The bus was carrying a group of German tourists and was driving on an expressway linking the capital with the neighboring port city of Tianjin when the accident happened at around 0830 hours local time.
Among those injured were fourteen German citizens and two native-born Chinese.
COMMENT: As most of us know, rear-end collisions are usually attributed to the driver  of the vehicle striking in this case the truck positioned ahead of the tour bus.
As details become available, this report will be updated in the coming days.
I again remind our readers of the risk of traveling in large tour buses hired by local travel operators, who have not adequately vetted the dependability of drivers and the safety standards of buses used to transport foreign visitors from one place to another.
