Antigua: Group of Tourists Robbed at Gunpoint at Pearns Point

The Antigua Hotel and Tourist Association (AHTA) and Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda have condemned the robbery at gunpoint of a group of tourists by three gunmen at Pearns Point at 1400 hours on Friday (November 9).

Meanwhile, police are appealing to anyone with information to contact the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at 462-3913/14.

COMMENT: According to an official police statement issued yesterday (November 12), the victims were robbed at gunpoint of two iPhones, one black Nokia mobile phone, along with other important documents and an undisclosed sum of money.

To make matters worse, the assailants fled in a vehicle belonging to one of the victims. Fortunately, the vehicle was later discovered some distance from the scene.

As I have noted on many occasions in the past, there are few places on Earth that can be described as "safe."

Thus, it is essential for everyone to constantly exercise effective security awareness of those around them.
