Nigeria: Security Forces Kills 13 Kidnappers Who Had Kidnapped a Turkish Construction Worker

According to Reuters, Nigerian security forces killed thirteen members of a kidnap gang at their hideout in the oil-producing Delta on Saturday (November 4), who were suspected of abducting a Turkish national employed by the Rivigo Construction company.

COMMENT: A twenty million naira (US$127,600) ransom was paid for the release of Bayram Karakus, who worked for the construction company.

Ransom kidnapping is particularly popular in Nigeria's oil-rich Delta, although kidnapping has occurred throughout the country.

This report will be updated as new information becomes available.
