Cayman Islands: Intoxicated Driver Who Killed Canadian Senior, 66, Rebailed, Released Again

COMMENT: As a follow-up to my postings on the death of Canadian Dan Marce, 66, from Regina, Saskatchewan, on Friday night (February 8), who was struck by an intoxicated driver on West Bay Road, and later medically evacuated to Canada by air ambulance only to pass away on February 13, our readers may find it of interest that the driver of the vehicle has still not been charged by the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service.

Interestingly, media reports never indicated whether the driver of the vehicle was compelled to submit to a breathalyzer test or a blood alcohol test.

On Thursday (February 14), the driver of the car that killed Mr. Marce was contacted by the police and only re-bailed and then released...again.

For an island-nation that depends so heavily on foreign tourism, one would hope that those that kill pedestrians with an automobile face greater consequences than being released from police custody.

Needless to say, this matter will be updated as new information becomes available.
