New York City: Intoxicated Australian Tourist, 20, Raped Outside Upper East Side Club

According to The New York Post, an intoxicated solo tourist from Australia, age 20, was drinking at the Club Lavo on New York City's Upper East Side at 0300 hours on Sunday (February 10) when she hailed a taxi just outside of the bar.

Unfortunately, in her intoxicated state, she ended up in an argument with the taxi driver, and got out of the vehicle.

Subsequently, she recalls being dragged by a tall man into an alley she doesn't recall and being raped and then abandoned.

COMMENT: The New York City Police Department is now looking for a black male, 35-40 years of age, 6-foot-2, weighing 190 pounds, wearing dark clothing and a skull cap. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).

All foreign visitors to the US should know that all states in the US have crime victim compensations programs, regardless of nationality. For detailed information, please see below:

A detail that some readers may have overlooked in this case is that the victim was 20 years of age, which could suggest that she was using a fraudulent driving permit as identification, as the drinking age in most states in the US is 21.
