Bulgaria: Update--Media Offers Few Details on Briton, 19, Who Fell from the 10th Floor of His Hotel Room

As a follow-up to my posting of June 16, Liam Davies, 19, from Wales reportedly died after falling some ten floors to his death on Sunday from his hotel room balcony at the Black Sea resort of Sunny Beach.

COMMENT: Davies apparently had returned to his hotel on Sunday, but did not have the fare, so he ostensibly went to his guest room that he was sharing with his girlfriend. Moments later, he fell to his death.

Interestingly, the British Embassy, the Foreign Office and even local and international media have said nothing as to how Mr. Davies died, whether his fall was accidental or intentional.

If his girlfriend, who was in the guest room at the time that Mr. Davies fell, she is offering no details whatsoever.

In the absence of an accidental fall, which invariably is openly reported, one can only surmise that Mr. Davies' death was intentional, which, of course, causes observers and those familiar with the case to speculate about the motive.

In time the cause of Davies' death may be released. On the other hand, it may never be, as suicides are particularly painful for loved ones.

Consequently, our condolences and sympathies go out to Mr. Davies' family and friends and hope that they find the solace and closure they seek.
