México: Update--Kidnapped Marine Vetreran, Father, Uncle Still Missing, Land Dispute Possible Motive

According to Fox News, US Marine veteran Armando Torres III, who served in Iraq, disappeared in northern México on May 14, along with his father, Armando Torres II, and uncle, Salvador Torres,  after being kidnapped from the family ranch by several gunmen.

COMMENT: Patricia Torres, the Marine's aunt, said Tuesday (July 2) that her father-in-law, Armando Torres II, had sold a piece of his ranch in La Barranca, Tamaulipas, to a neighbor. When that neighbor stopped making payments on the land, Salvador Torres took it back.

That being said, a far more likely motive is that a drug cartel may have wanted the family to permit the property's use as part of their drug operations.

Although land disputes are fairly common in México, rarely do they rise to the occasion of three men being kidnapped without a trace and no evidence of a demand, particularly after nearly two months.
