According to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser, a hearing to re-try special agent Chris Deedy, 29, has been postponed until September 13.
Deedy's first trial on 2nd degree homicide charges ended last week in a hung jury in connection with the shooting death of Kollin Elderts, 23, who was shot and killed by Deedy on November 5, 2011.
Elderts was unarmed at the time.
Deedy fired three rounds from his government-issued semi-auto 9mm pistol, one of which hit and killed Elderts.
COMMENT: Presumably the delay in Deedy's new trial is no doubt based on the fact that the prosecution does not want to run the risk of another hung jury.
Finding twelve jurors who are unaware of and undecided in terms of the case potentially could be a challenge for both the prosecution and the defense.
