Afghanistan: German Embassy Temporarily Closed Due to Terrorist Threat

COMMENT: According to THE ASSOCIATED PRESS, the German Embassy in Kabul has been temporarily closed due to a possible terrorist threat. 

Defense Minister Thomas de Maiziere said Friday (October 18) that there were indications of plans for an attack and that "precautionary measures are being taken," the DPA news agency reported. 

No date was released as to when the Embassy would be open for business.

Germany is one of the largest contributors to the international security force in Afghanistan. It currently has some 3,860 soldiers there, stationed largely in the north of the country.
