Thailand: Gang Attacks Solo Foreigner, Believed to be Russian, Leaves Victim Unconscious

According to http://www.thaivisa.com, a foreign tourist, believed to be a Russian national in his 30s, who was sitting drinking beer and admiring the scenery on Pattaya beach when he was set upon by a gang.

The unidentified gang beat the foreigner up until he was unconscious, stole his property and fled the scene.

The attack occurred at 0330 hours on November 11 in the vicinity of  Bay Walk Residence, Moo 9 Tambon Nong Prue, Amphur Banglamung, Chonburi province.

COMMENT: Police searched the tourist for identification, but couldn’t find any. Consequently, the crime victim was  transported to Pattaya Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Kietchai Pholjan, aged 34, who is a motorbike taxi driver, told police that he saw three assailants driving a red Honda Click, but couldn’t remember the license number of the vehicle.

The assailants parked some distance from the foreigner then walked toward the victim, who was alone and drinking a beer, attacked the foreigner rendering him unconscious, knocked him unconscious, robbed him of his money and valuables at which point Kietchai shouted at the criminals who then fled the scene.

Unfortunately, many tourists and travelers to Thailand incorrectly believe they are safe at any time of day. They are NOT.

It is a common occurrence for solo foreigners in Thailand to be targeted at any time of day, which is why I almost always suggest that travelers visit certain countries in the company of OTHERS.

For those who doubt my thoughts on this topic, I urge you to search all of my postings on "Thailand," which number 171 or 7.1% of all postings.
