México: Aeroméxico to Rely on Gogo Vision for Infight Internet, Wireless Services

According to The Latin American Tribune, Aeroméxico and connectivity specialist Gogo have formed an alliance to offer in-flight Internet and wireless entertainment service on at least 75 of the Mexican carrier’s airliners.

Both the connectivity service and the Gogo Vision wireless entertainment service are expected to be available to Aeroméxico passengers during the second half of 2014.

Aeroméxico’s 737s will rely on Gogo’s Ku-band satellite service, while Inmarsat’s SwiftBroadband satellite service will be used for the airline’s regional jets.

COMMENT: “We know from our extensive experience that having connectivity has become a competitive advantage for airlines,” Gogo President and CEO Michael Small said. “This is the age of the mobile Internet and passengers are used to being connected wherever they are.”

Aeroméxico’s CEO, Andrés Conesa, said the deal will make his airline the first in Latin America to offer in-flight WiFi through Gogo.
