Puerto Rico: Assailant Who Killed Ohio Murder Victim in Rincón Arrested

According to http://www.wkyc.com, authorities in Puerto Rico have arrested a man suspected in the fatal stabbing of a US tourist from Ohio.

Police said Saturday (January 4) that they expected to soon charge Juan Carela Acevedo, 22.
COMMENT: The suspect is believed have burglarized the Arena y Mar Apartments in the popular beach town of Rincón on December 30.

Police said Brett Walquist, 41, of Beavercreek, OH, was stabbed to death when he apparently walked into his rented kitchen and found Acevedo burglarizing his apartment.

It is unknown as to whether Walquist resisted Acevedo or whether the intruder stabbed the Ohioan without provocation.
As I have said so often in the past, crime victims should NEVER resist an armed felon or one who may be armed, as most criminals in Puerto Rico are. No amount of property is worth your life.
Homicides during 2013 numbered 809. With a population of only 3.7 million inhabitants, Puerto Rico's murder rate was double that of Chicago, population 2.7 million, the highest rate of murders anywhere in the Continental US.

Tragically, Mr. Walquist may well have been the last murder victim in Puerto Rico in 2013.
