Bahamas: Two US Citizens Charged with Manslaughter of Other American, 45, on Bimini

According to The Associated Press, two US citizens have been charged in the stabbing death of another US citizen following a fight on the island of Bimini, authorities in the island chain said Monday (March 17).

Tyler Valles, 19, of Key Largo, FL, and Robert Schwartz, 62, of Gaylordsville, CT, were charged with manslaughter, Assistant Commissioner Emrick Seymour of the Royal Bahamas Police Force announced.

COMMENT: A Bahamanian judge set bail for the two US defendants at $35,000 and ordered them to appear for trial May 19. Neither men entered pleas at arraignment.

The two men were charged in the death of Carl Yerger, 45, of Ruscombmanor Township, PA, whose body was found Friday (March 14) on the grounds of a resort and marina on Bimini, a Bahamian island known for sport fishing and diving destination.

Police did not release details but Commissioner Seymour said the three Americans allegedly argued after Yerger allegedly sought to board a boat owned by Valles and Schwartz.

This report will be updated as new information becomes available.
