Egypt: Update--One Killed, Eight Wounded During Pro-Morsi Protest Near Cairo University

According to Reuters, one person was killed near Egypt's Cairo University on Wednesday (March 26) when protesters supporting ousted President Mohamed Morsi clashed with security forces.

The official said eight people were also wounded during the exchange between protesters and government forces without giving further details.

The protesters were demonstrating against a court ruling earlier this week sentencing more than 500 alleged Muslim Brotherhood supporters to death.

COMMENT: Although the city of Cairo is massive, tourist attractions such as the Egyptian Museum, the Cairo Opera House, the Sakkar Carpet School, Giza and the Sphinx, Cairo Tower (614 feet, 187 meters), the Khan El-Khalili Souq open-air market, luxury hotels, etc., may be disrupted from time to time by demonstrations, one reason why I suggest that visitors schedule other venues nationwide.

In light of the fact that credible terrorist groups have declared foreigners open-season is one reason for all nationalities to comply with their countries' travel warnings.
