Australia: Update--Investigation of Murderer of French Student, 21, Continues, Few Leads, Evidence

According to, Brisbane police have released CCTV surveillance footage of murdered French tourist Sophie Collombet, 21, in the hope that her final movements will prompt witnesses to come forward.

The video depicts Ms. Collombet getting off a bus at South Bank Cultural Centre Station last Thursday evening (March 27), shortly before her death.

Queensland police also released images of the Frenchwoman in her apartment elevator on Thursday morning to show what she was wearing prior to the attack.

The beige singlet top, dark denim jeans and black ankle boots have not been recovered since the unfortunate woman was found naked at 0600 hours on Friday (March 28).

COMMENT: Police investigators have reported that the victim was beaten to death and left abandoned in a rotunda at Kurilpa Park in Brisbane's inner-city.

Detective Inspector Rod Kemp says the public is in danger until the 21-year-old woman's killer is found.

Sadly, the victim's clothing, a murder weapon and no suspects have been located.

Collombert is the fourth international student to be killed in Brisbane since November 2013.

Police have reviewed hundreds of feet of CCTV surveillance footage and retraced the victim's steps from the time she left her inner-city apartment in the morning until she began to head home.

Brisbane police have also been in touch with Sophie's family back home who understandably want to have a proper burial of their daughter as soon as possible.

This report will be updated as new information becomes available.
