China: Elementary School Teacher, 56, Sentenced to Death for Pedophila, Had Victimized Sixteen Girls

According to http://www.shanghaidaily.com, Yang Shifu, 56, from Tongbo County in the central province of Henan, was sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve, said Nanyang Intermediate People’s Court (April 21).

Last week, education officials agreed to pay the parents of Yang’s victims a total of 1.3 million yuan (US$208,780) in compensation, as reported in http://www.china.com.cn.

Yang's crimes were uncovered on May 21, 2013, when a student observed Yang  touching a girl student inappropriately and kissing her in class.

Police detained Yang two days later, resulting in his being charged with sexual assaults that occurred during 2012-2013.

COMMENT: On May 24, 2013, the parents of sixteen girls, ages six through eleven, took their daughters for forensic exams. Analysis confirmed that nine had been abused, according http://www.dahe.cn.

One grade-three student said Yang had sexually assaulted her since she had started in school.

The 10-year-old said Yang molested girls in their classroom, asking them to sit on his lap or going over to their seats, HENAN BUSINESS DAILY reported.

“He would touch us and ask us to kiss his tongue,” said the girl.

Yang threatened the girls to stop reporting him to higher authority.

China’s Supreme People’s Court has vowed “zero tolerance” of crimes that affect the rights of children.

The truly disgusting component of this case is that Yang may have victimized hundreds of children during the course of his 30-year teaching career.
