Texas/Georgia: Texas Resident Shot, Killed by Stray Round, Shooter Charged
According to http://www.wsbtv.com, Helen, GA police have said that the man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter after a bizarre accident that left the shooter injured and a Texas resident dead.
According to police, officers were dispatched to a "shots fired" call in the 8000 block of Main Street in Helen Saturday (August 16).
When Helen police arrived at the dispatched address, they found a man sitting on a bench with a small caliber handgun and a gunshot wound to the hand.
After further investigation officers determined Glenn Patrick Lampien, 53, of Jasper, had accidentally fired the gun, shooting himself in the hand.
COMMENT: In a bizarre sequence of events, the bullet that injured Lampien then traveled across the street, striking a woman in the side. Police said she was pronounced dead on the scene.
The woman’s name has not yet been released, but police said she is a Texas resident.
