According to The Latin American Tribune, six leftist FARC (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia) rebels were killed in a military operation in the central province of Meta, the Colombian military said Friday (September 12).
The clash occurred in Filo de Lora outside the town of El Castillo, when a guerrilla unit was confronted by a joint army, air force and police operation, the military said in a communiqué.

In the shootout that ensued, six FARC rebels were killed.
During the attack, security forces seized arms from the guerrillas including rifles, land mines, grenades and handguns, as well as electronic devices relative to their activities.
The latest engagement brings to 23 the number of FARC fighters killed since mid-July.
