South Carolina: Alabama Tourist, 31, Robbed at Gunpoint by Two Assailants in Hilton Head

According to, a 31-year-old tourist from Pelham, AL was robbed at gunpoint early Friday (September 12) after he accepted a ride from two strangers on the south end of Hilton Head Island, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

The crime victim got lost while attempting to walk from Greenwood Drive to Palmetto Dunes, a report said. Two strangers subsequently took the man a short distance in their dark-colored Nissan Maxima and then pulled guns on the victim, stealing his iPhone and wallet and forcing him from the vehicle.

COMMENT: It would have been more productive if the crime victim had called the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office BEFORE his iPhone was stolen.

The victim wandered lost for another 1.5 before he could flag down a deputy, who gave him a ride to his hotel.

The two suspects were described only as an African-American and a caucasian, both in their early 20s with facial hair.
