India: Japanese Tourist Has Tote Stolen in Jaipur Hospital, Losses Substantial

According to The Times of Indiaa Japanese male, native to Bunkyo-Ku, was robbed of cash and valuables, including an electronic dictionary, while visiting an ailing friend at a hospital in Jaipur on October 10.

The crime victim was relieved of his bag containing 10,000 Japanese yen (US$92.87),  15,000 rupees (US$244.73), a sleeping bag, an electronic dictionary and other belongings, by a thief at Sawai Man Singh Hospital (SMS) on October 10. 

COMMENT: Typically, many Japanese are not exposed to criminality at home and may find the abundance of crime in India disconcerting. 

The Japanese tourist visited the hospital to meet a friend who had suffered a fracture, an official at the Motidungari police station reported.
